The Crystal Keys Update

I thought I had better stop in and give you a little update on the progress of our adventure together!

As I believe most of you know, we have now launched the book-specific website and Facebook page.  If you haven’t stopped by and signed up yet, you better get going!  We will be beginning those free autographed copy giveaways before you can say, ‘Champion of Destiny!’

I believe the last time I updated you, the manuscript was undergoing a copy edit, and we were working on cover design.  I am excited to tell you that we have finalized the front cover (I think you are going to love it!), and the manuscript has returned from its grooming.

Entrusting your manuscript to the editor feels a little bit like being forced to leave your child with the Texas Chainsaw Murderer; i.e., terrifying! There was a lot of hacking and chopping going on, but at least he used purple ink to make it a little less painful. A little.

“So what does all this mean anyway?  Just give us a date, already!”

Yeah, yeah!  I hear you.  I promise I am working as diligently as I can toward that goal, and as soon as I know, then you will know too!

The next step in the process is for me to reread the edited copy line by line approving (or not!) each of the changes that were made.  Hmmm…come to think of it, maybe I should have written a shorter book…

Nah, I am loving every second of it!!!

I specifically chose this publisher and this process for a reason- this reason -so that I retained all creative freedoms over the process.

But, as you can imagine, this portion of the process takes time; and time is a bit of a commodity around here! At this point, the speed of the process now rests solidly upon my shoulders, and the publisher cannot assign a print date because they have no way of knowing how quickly I will (or…will not?) complete my task.

Once I have completed this portion of the process, however, the boulder really gets rolling.  Upon returning my approved manuscript, the publisher will then begin internal layout and design, spine design, and back cover design.

And at that point, we will have a fairly good idea of a hard release date for you to wrap your anxious fingers around (or so I am being told)!

That, my dear friends, is where we currently are in the process.  If I disappear for a few days, do not panic; in fact, you should probably cheer, because that means that I am focusing on getting my the final edit approval done…

So that, before you know it, you will have your very own copy of The Crystal Keys: Champion of Destiny in your fingertips!

Coming Summer 2015.

Who’s ready to read?!?
